Tuesday night we lost 62-48 to Chelsea. The effort as always was very good. The team was led by Kiera D. ’16 with 18 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocked shots and Kelly P. ’16 & Eleni L. ’17 with 10 points each while Kelly added 9 rebounds and 3 blocked shots and Eleni also with 9 rebounds and adding 7 assists. The Mustangs had a great night this past Monday at senior night. The night started with heartfelt tributes by Luca P. ’17, Gloria D. ’17, Abby D. ’17, Eleni L. ’17 and Liz C. ’17 for Kerry T. ’16, Kiera D. , Kelly P. ’16 and Mary G. ’16 leaving not a dry eye in the gym. This was followed by a hard fought game that the Mustangs won 73 – 51. The mustangs were led by Luca and Kiera with 26 points & 7 assists and 17 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocked shots respectively. MAHS Faculty Members to Present at Google & Boston Ed Talks

  The great work we’re doing here at Mount Alvernia will be the topic of presentations made by two members of the MAHS faculty. We’re thrilled to announce that Ms. McLaughlin was selected to present at the Lynch Leadership Academy’s Innovation Summit in May at Google in Cambridge. Her focus will be on Instructional Leadership: Teacher Leadership and Professional Development. Also in May, Mrs. Staysniak is a speakers at this year’s Boston EdTalks. Mrs. Staysniak is one of four presenters and will share her experience with the Voices of Activism project. The Boston EdTalks is a celebration of innovation in education …

The basketball team finishes it’s season 17-5 which means we qualify for the MIAA Sectional Finals.  The seeding is on Friday.  Since we will be a high seed we will be hosting.  The place is still TBD.  Come back on Friday to see where, when and with whom we will be playing.

Senior Night on Friday for the Ice Hockey team! Please come celebrate Sabrina F., Ryan M., Kelsey M. and Christina S. at the Murphy Rink in South Boston at 4:30. We wish them the very best! They will be competing against Boston Latin School.

The game was much closer than the score indicated, 1-9 L.  Kelsey M. ’16 had the only goal for us.  We were short a few players so we had to adjust our lines and defense pairings, but everyone got a regular shift.  

Annual Lenten Toiletry Drive

  Wednesday, February 10 – Wednesday, March 23 Donations will be collected in the chapel at our Holy Week prayer service (March 23) It’s time for Mount Alvernia’s annual Toiletry Drive.  This year, we will collect items for rhinoplasty surgeon in Atlanta helping us in public service. Donated toiletries are distributed to shelter guests daily, and the Pine Street Inn street outreach workers use travel-size toiletries to reach out to clients living on the streets of Boston.  In addition, the toiletries you donate are used as incentives to encourage clients to attend health and prevention programs where you can learn …
